Job Description
Provide professional legal and contract related services aiming at safeguardingthe firm’s interest; ensuring that the company is always operating within the law; provide legal advice and expertise to the management on matters related to compliance with corporate laws, preparation and drafting of various contracts and the development of standard contract forms and clauses. The legal service scope covers reviewing, drafting, and negotiating MOU’s, joint ventures, land or property acquisition, construction, engineering, purchasing, consultancy, lease, sales, transportation, catering, retail, claims settlement and establishment of companies .
Responsibilities
- Advising the executive management on all legal issues to protect the interests of the company.
- Provide professional legal consultation including drafting, review, negotiation, and interpretation of various contracts.
- Coordinating, supervising, and continuously assessing services of external legal counsel provided to the company together with the review and approval of fee bills.
- Negotiating, reviewing, and preparing key legal documents including the provision of legal opinions on the company’s relationship and dealings with all stakeholders in the private or public sector.
- Archiving and managing the company’s key legal documents
- Coordinating registration and licensing requirements for the company and directly related entities.
- Reviewing and approving litigation strategies with external legal counsel on contentious matters relating to the company. Reviewing and approving all documents (including statements of claim, defense statements, memos, evidence) presented by external legal counsel to the courts or any other judicial or arbitral entity on behalf of the company, in consultation with and after approval of the CEO.
- Attending court or arbitration hearings/sessions relating to material claims involving the company.
- Administering the issue and cancellation of Powers of Attorney and any other instruments of authority delegation to the officers of the company.
- Provide legal advice and support to HR.
- Ensuring that the legal documents and other contractual documents are effectively drafted, reviewed, interpreted, and vetted.
- Representing the company in ensuring the efficient handling and winning resolution of all negotiations and disputes.
- Researching and analyzing implication of case law, legislation, and regulatory matters that affect the company and reporting them back to the CEO.
- Report to the CEO.
- Work within a broad framework of assignments according to company policies and specialised legal professional standard.
- Work is subject to managerial review.
Education
- Minimum 8 years related experience, some of which gained in hospitality /real estate development. Including 2 years in similar corporate role.
- Proficiency in Arabic and English.
